Gurindji man Dan Sultan will headline a new series of concerts called Rock For Recognition. These were initiated in order to raise awareness and promote the need for recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait peoples in the Australian Constitution.

Changing the Constitution requires a “successful referendum”, which means two-thirds of Australians have to vote for it. This was last achieved in 1967 to recognise Aboriginal people as part of the Australian population. So music is needed to build awareness.

Sultan will be joined at various stops by different acts, with Yabu Band, Leah Flanagan and DJ Ken Eavel announced so far. Tour dates below.

November 8: Corner Hotel, Melbourne
November 9: Factory Theatre, Sydney
November 10: Bakery Artrage, Perth
November 11: Fly By Night, Fremantle
